Newest Lansing

So we found out the newest Lansing is going to be a little brother for Joe. We're all very excited for the arrival of little Rory Michael, he is 11 ounces right now and appears to be in great health.

We're starting the renovations on the other half of the house this weekend. Our contractor was here earlier this week and put the cross beams in the attic this week, removing the old insulation and installing new insulation. The next step in the project will be us knocking the walls out so we have on big room and removing the ceiling for a lovely vaulted ceiling. It will be lovely when we finish it. Oh I almost forgot, we have to squeeze the stuff on the renovation side of the house into the other half while we do this. That in itself should be motivation enough to make this a quick project. We are going to be a little crowded for a couple of weeks.

Joe is doing very well and has learned a new trick. Now I know that every child learns to take off their diapers but how many figure out how to do it with out taking off their jammies ? This morning while I ran the garbage out and got the mail Joe managed to unhook one side of his diaper and shove the very wet diaper down the leg of his footsie jammies. Very impressive, or so he thought. Once it warms up I can see him stripping everything off and running about. Oh how I am looking forward to that...Not !

Joe is doing well with his teachers, he is becoming a lot more verbal and has even started asking for certain items without cues. Such as any and every ball he sees. The word is not perfect but clear enough that any one can understand him. Baaaaaaalllll ! He also has a phrase that sounds quite a bit like my turn. Of course this is used mainly when someone else has the ball he wants. His language is coming along well and his attention span is not too bad. He makes some eye contact but that is a constant work in progress.

Well I better get a few things done before lunch and nap time are here. Take care,

Love Nikki and everyone else here at the menagerie.
